What drew me to coaching?

I had been struggling as a result of a period of bullying and harassment and had lost my self-confidence and self-worth. I felt broken.

I felt I needed to get a grip and decided that I needed some support and possibly some tools that would help me to learn value myself and more importantly to help me change my own behaviours to repair/manage how I was feeling about myself in difficult to manage scenarios.

How did I find the sessions?

To be honest, at first, I approached the sessions with some cynicism; however soon into the first hour I realised a lot of what was being discussed was “common sense” and as the coach was speaking many things started to make sense and fall into place quite quickly, I got it!

What was most valuable?

Someone understanding the tools I needed, someone who understood which  tools would best suit the way I felt and what would help me move forward positively.  Someone who clearly listened but did not preach.

How have they helped me?

I look forward now, feeling much more empowered and in control of what happens to me because at the end of the day nobody else should have that control but me.  Consider the positives, think about my principles and my values.  Value myself and what I contribute to life.  I have already, even after 4 sessions started to see what I bring, not about what I fail at, I understand that we cannot be perfect but that if we do what we perceive to be the most important things to us, life can only be positive moving forward.

What was it like working with Stephen Brunt?

Stephen has been absolutely fabulous, he got me, understood me and more importantly could reflect positively in the difference he had made to the way I felt and the positivity rebounded again so I received a double whammy.  I felt good and he echoed that.

Thank you again Stephen.

“The feedback session itself I found of equal value to the actual assessment to gain Stephen’s professional insight, therefore I’d thoroughly recommend not just the assessment itself but choosing to go through the Genos process with Stephen to get the most out of it. .”

Busines Development Manager, Coaching client

“I couldn’t recommend Stephen more highly. A couple of sessions with him and I went from classic imposter syndrome case to confident senior manager. Steve’s understanding and ability to suggest just the right intervention was remarkable, it was a pleasure to work with him.“

NHS Manager, Coaching Client

I first sought out some coaching as I was at a point in my life and career where I had lost all direction and sense of where I wanted to be.

I felt I was stagnating and Covid had increased my anxieties.  I had six coaching sessions with Steve who was approachable and relaxed in his manner.

Steve was great at focusing on key areas for personal development, working through some techniques and offering practical ideas or resources that were really useful.

He was able to lead me, through discussion, to make overwhelming work issues feel manageable and to find a way forward.

So firstly can I also thank you for your time with Coaching- I truly found it useful.

I was advised by my manager that it would be available and I decided to give it a try not really knowing what gain I would get from it but appreciating it was a resource available to me. I sometimes struggled to make time for the sessions or when they were booked frustratingly it would be a day where we had staffing issues causing me to have to decide if I could be free for the hour.

After each session, no matter how challenging it was to be free to participate I came away feeling lighter, stronger, clear on how I would use the tools we discussed. As a leader of a team I use the understanding of values of the individuals in the team all the time now.

And I have definitely made changes to my own time out of work and am much more mindful about giving myself time to ‘recover’ from work. This helps to balance my work/home life. I found you to be friendly and really easy to talk to – as you’ve witnessed I do ramble a bit!

My very positive experience with you in coaching allowed me to suggest it to a colleague as a positive thing to do!

Thank you for your Support over the last few weeks, it has been extremely helpful to me and I have already felt the benefits.

I feel that I have lost some of the anxieties and stress levels have reduced, the main focus of looking at my health & Wellbeing has helped me to address the work load stresses!!

Having someone to talk to who is not in service allowed me to open up about how I was feeling Frustrated and overwhelmed by my workload.

The tasks you gave me to work on, are really useful and worked within a short space of time allowing me to see the positive changes.

Thanks again, for listening and your guidance.

I recently had a Genos Emotional Intelligence 360 leadership assessment with Stephen which I would highly recommend to get valuable insight on the EI of your leadership. He was really informative beforehand so I could choose the right assessment which I’d get the most value from.

He then provided great advice so I could then pick the right people to form part of the process. The report itself and leadership development tips are presented really well and easy to use.

I really like the Genos model itself and really resonated with it, the structure of model is the foundation of the questionnaire and therefore the feedback you receive. The assessment offers the ability to look at each aspect from a 360 perspective and the same development point from the viewpoint of your different relationships which I found incredibly valuable.

The benefit of having a verbal feedback session on the report with Stephen rather than just getting it cold is he provides a real sense of proportionality and non-judgment to the feedback, suggests relevant next steps and utilises his broad knowledge to support your understanding of the feedback and the perceptions of others.

The feedback session itself I found of equal value to the actual assessment to gain Stephen’s professional insight, therefore I’d thoroughly recommend not just the assessment itself but choosing to go through the Genos process with Stephen to get the most out of it.

Business Development Manager, Coaching Client

I couldn’t recommend Stephen more highly.

A couple of sessions with him and I went from classic imposter syndrome case to confident senior manager.

He managed to tap into something that just triggered a new perspective and increased confidence in me. I have moments, but he left me with a question I go back to every time I feel that imposter thought creeping in which sets me straight again. Stephen was so easy to talk to and his insight, understanding and ability to suggest just the right intervention was remarkable, it was a pleasure to work with him.
