Transformational interventions driving positive change

I have years of experience helping all sorts of organisations to bring about real change for the better.

But there’s no set formula or magic wand.

I can, and often do, deliver work around specific areas – from conflict resolution to emotional intelligence – but I can also work with you to help identify critical areas to change for maximum organisational performance.

And then I can create and deliver programmes to make that happen.

While there is no specific menu of services, the building blocks frequently involve one, or a combination of, the following:

Management and leadership development

Interventions to build both management and leadership capabilities.

Examples include:

    • Design and delivery of learning modules to support those in their first leadership roles

    • Facilitation of strategic planning events with senior leaders

    • Creating bespoke programmes of learning interventions for middle and senior managers using emotional intelligence assessments, one-to-one coaching and facilitated group events
    • Design and delivery of bespoke leadership topic webinars

Team Development

Interventions to create high performing teams.

Examples include:

    • Team building sessions using Insights Discovery for previously remote teams brought together to work in one site with new leadership and team members
    • Development days with a team with low trust and poor communication, not working well together
    • Facilitation of team away days, reviewing past success and assisting in drawing out challenges of future and how to navigate those using mixture of engaging and active activities.

Professional skill building and personal development

Core and bespoke learning interventions to build key professional and behavioural skills at work.

Topics include:

    • Developing emotional intelligence
    • Assertiveness
    • Time management
    • Resilience
    • Dealing with change
    • Presentation skills
    • Coaching skills for managers

Coaching

Working one-to-one through different people’s challenges and issues.

Examples include:

    • A newly appointed senior manager suffering with imposter syndrome
    • An experienced leader struggling to navigate a challenging change programme and how to communicate with their team
    • Supporting leaders on a talent development programme with development coaching, to support their goals for the programme and beyond
    • Working with an experienced NHS leader to help them navigate a change in role and responsibilities.

"I couldn’t recommend Stephen more highly. A couple of sessions with him and I went from classic imposter syndrome case to confident senior manager.

He managed to tap into something that just triggered a new perspective and increased confidence in me. I have moments, but he left me with a question I go back to every time I feel that imposter thought creeping in which sets me straight again. Stephen was so easy to talk to and his insight, understanding and ability to suggest just the right intervention was remarkable, it was a pleasure to work with him."

The regular coaching sessions with Steve were great as they really helped me focus on what I wanted to achieve. Steve is friendly, easy going and approachable; he makes you feel comfortable and able to talk about anything without being judged. I went to coaching to help with my anxiety around Covid and after just one session I was managing this so much better. Steve helped me to look at things from a different perspective and gave me simple, practical tools to use. I made so much progress around my anxiety I was able to focus on other areas too like health and self-care and now feel so much calmer, happier and fulfilled. Thank you Steve for all your help."

"I recently had a Genos Emotional Intelligence 360 leadership assessment with Stephen which I would highly recommend. The report itself and leadership development tips are presented really well and easy to use. I really like the Genos model itself and it really resonated with me. Stephen provides a real sense of proportionality and non-judgment to the feedback, suggests relevant next steps and utilises his broad knowledge to support your understanding of the feedback and the perceptions of others. I’d thoroughly recommend not just the assessment itself but choosing to go through the Genos process with Stephen to get the most out of it and to gain Stephen’s professional insight.”

Julie-Ann, Senior HR Leader

"Stephen has been absolutely fabulous, he got me, understood me, and more importantly could reflect positively in the difference he had made to the way I felt. I had been struggling because of a period of bullying and harassment and had lost my self-confidence and self-worth.  I felt broken. I felt I needed to get a grip and decided that I needed some support and possibly some tools that would help me to learn to value myself and more importantly to help me change my own behaviours to repair and manage how I was feeling about myself. I have started to see what value I bring, not what I fail at and I understand that we cannot be perfect but that if we do what we perceive to be the most important things to us, life can only be positive moving forward."

"Steve is a fantastic trainer and he has helped me in my learning on personality preferences, self-awareness and emotional intelligence. Steve’s energy and passion for these topics is extremely contagious, he’s a fountain of knowledge and has tonnes of tips, ideas and reference points up his sleeve. It makes for an extremely engaging training session, every time!"

The benefits of working with a coach

Coaching is a reflective learning practice that supports clients to gain greater clarity over a problem or situation they are facing and then to move forward towards positive action.

As an experienced coach, I help my clients see where they are now and where they would like to be and then explore what might be stopping them from getting there.

When you’re in the thick of things, dealing with a problem or crisis, it can be difficult to see possible solutions – even when they are right in front of you. Coaching can be an effective way to facilitate conversations that help clear some of the muddy water, so leaders and managers can see their choices more clearly.
